Become a My Guide Volunteer and help those with sight loss

Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

Our My Guide service trains volunteers aged 18+ to use sighted guiding techniques to help people with sight loss get out of their homes and back into the community to do the things they want to do.

For some, that’s taking part in local community events and activities for others it might mean visits to the theatre, going to the gym or the local shops.

The aim is to increase mobility, confidence and independence.

My Guide Ambassador for Wales, Ian Coxon, said"identifying the right volunteers is vital, as the scheme involves working closely with adults who have a visual impairment".  We will endeavour to match you with a service user in your locality.

Full training is provided and all out of expenses are reimbursed.

The time commitment is flexible and negotiable with the organisation.

An informal discussion, references and a disclosure and barring check will be required.
