Alzheimer’s Society - One to One Befriender Volunteering Vacancy

Our befriending service, the Big Lottery funded Side by Side project, offers a fantastic opportunity for people with Dementia to continue to enjoy various social activities and hobbies which they may have otherwise found impossible to do unsupported.

As a volunteer befriender aged 18+, you will support people with Dementia in the local community and their homes to continue with their various pastimes. In doing so, you will contribute to them living well with Dementia.

The primary role of a volunteer befriender is to offer informal support by providing a social contact to help reduce the social isolation experienced by people with Dementia.

A suggested time commitment is 2 – 3 hours weekly/fortnightly.  Full training is provided and travel expenses are reimbursed.

An informal discussion, references and a disclosure and barring check will be required.
