Volunteers aged 18+ are required to support staff in the provision of activities, learning opportunities and advice for parents of children with ADHD.
The project is:
a new and exciting service to support parents with children identified with a neurodevelopmental difficulty (post diagnosis). Support is provided via:
· 1:1 sessions
· focusing on enabling parents to be “group ready”
· by delivery of the ADHD parenting programme
The programme runs for 6 weeks and the aims are:
To increase parents knowledge of ADHD and its treatment
To give parents an insight into how it feels to be a child with ADHD
To provide advice on how to promote a more positive relationship with their children
To educate parents on strategies for effective behaviour
Helping Parents to learn new strategies to support their child with ADHD.
This is great opportunity to make a big impact on the lives of children and young people by building knowledge and supporting through the ongoing work of Barnardo’s.
The minimum weekly time commitment required is 2 hours, negotiable with the organisation.
