Sad news with Don Read passing away

GVS is sad to report that Don Read sadly passed away last week. Don was a huge supporter of GVS (formerly VCVS) and his wife Margaret volunteered for us as a Chair/Trustee for over 20 years. Local Charity and Community Group Sustainability Report 2017/18

On Thursday the 26th April 2018 we released our third annual Local Charity and Community Group Sustainability Report. This report found that local charities and community groups in the UK are stretched to breaking point. Over recent years, cuts and austerity measures have increased the burden on local charities and community groups. Many groups are now facing a trade-off between the quality and the durability of their services.

Learn about digital safety in an accessible way

Innovate Trust has been running a digital safety training project to encourage digital inclusion, safety and engagement with technology supported by Cardiff Third Sector Council liaising with Glamorgan Voluntary Services through the Hau Third Sector Fund 2017 in partnership with Cardiff Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

GDPR Update - The Data Protection Fee

On the 25th May the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force. In addition to GDPR the Data Protection (Charges and Information) Regulations 2018 also come into force. The Charges and Information Regulations specify the new fees that will come into effect from 25th May 2018.

GDPR deadline - no challenge for GVS expert

The general data protection regulation (GDPR) is a new EU law that will come into effect on 25 May 2018 to replace the current Data Protection Act. It’s the biggest overhaul of data protection legislation for over 25 years, and will introduce new requirements for how organisations process personal data. And before you wonder what will happen after Brexit, it’s been made clear that all organisations will have to comply, which means it is likely we will adopt all or most of GDPR as domestic legislation.
