Cardiff & Vale Health Charity Third Sector Small Grants Programme Now Open for Applications

Cardiff & Vale Health Charity has allocated a total of £25,000 to pump prime third sector community healthcare improvement projects in the region during 2018-19. Funded projects, up to a maximum value of £10,000, will build on collaborative work and will be focused on the third sector’s role in health and social care. Deadline for application is 5pm on Friday 27th April 2018.

GDPR deadline - no challenge for GVS expert

The general data protection regulation (GDPR) is a new EU law that will come into effect on 25 May 2018 to replace the current Data Protection Act. It’s the biggest overhaul of data protection legislation for over 25 years, and will introduce new requirements for how organisations process personal data. And before you wonder what will happen after Brexit, it’s been made clear that all organisations will have to comply, which means it is likely we will adopt all or most of GDPR as domestic legislation.

Getting your governance right

The new Charity Governance Code was published in July 2017. It has been described as “Essential reading for all trustees” by the Charity Commission who have withdrawn its publication Hallmarks of an Effective Charity (CC10) to encourage charities to use the Code.

Employers legal obligations for first aid

Every employer in the UK, regardless of the size of the company, is legally obliged to plan for the provision of first aid at work. Employers must make sure that someone is always available to give or arrange first aid. This applies if the designated first aider is absent for any reason. First aiders must have a valid first aid training certificate.
