DCMS urges people to pledge to volunteer for Local Charities Day 2018

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has said it aims to reach 1,000 hours of pledged volunteering time for its 2018 Local Charities Day campaign. Local Charities Day will take place on Friday 14 December this year, and a spokeswoman from DCMS said that the government hoped members of the public would collectively pledge 1,000 hours of volunteering for local good causes.

Festive food donations help families at Christmas

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's Patient Experience team, in partnership with Health Board volunteers, held a collection for the local food banks on Friday 23rd November at the Concourse at UHW and collected over 30 bags full of food and festive treats.

Community Chest funding available to local groups

10 organisations were recently successful in securing £12,761 of Community Chest funding to develop new and further expand existing sports opportunities in the Vale. If you are an organisation interested in developing opportunities then the Community Chest funding could help. The next Community Chest panel meeting is taking place on 31st January with a deadline date of 17th January 2019 for completed applications to be submitted.
