Volunteer Activity Leader

Working alongside staff and help from the volunteer centre assistants, the volunteer activity leader will deliver various activity sessions. Based in Cardiff, opposite the Castle on a bus and train route.

Main duties include:

  • Work alongside staff, volunteers and clients to create a warm, inviting and safe environment for the women to attend whilst ensuring a safe space

  • Planning and delivering activities

  • Support the women within the group sessions and be open to carry out one to one work

  • Update any feedback forms, monitoring forms and to maintain a register of attendance for the sessions

  • Provide support, guidance and encouragement to clients

  • To report any safeguarding concerns to the activities centre co-ordinator and ensure health and standards and to adhere to the agree risk assessments in place

Safer Wales Volunteering Service supports Safer Wales Projects in helping victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence and sexual exploitation.  For the last 20 years, we have been working with victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual abuse, exploitation and hate crime.  Following the change that lasts model, Safer Wales Centre is working to help support vulnerable women to access facilities, activities and other essential items.

Required skills:

  • Non-judgmental and approachable

  • Reliable and adaptable

  • Excellent communication & listening skills

  • Basic IT skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Creative and confident to deliver sessions around own skill set

Time commitment:  A suggested weekly time commitment is a morning or afternoon (available Monday – Friday).  Hours range from 9 – 4pm.  Days and hours are negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed:
Reasonable out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided:
Full training is provided.
Selection procedure:
Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
